Soirée Lyrique’s Young Artist Program (YAP) concluded its five weeks of vocal and theatrical training with “Opera Scenes” on Sunday, July 23 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Elgin, staged by international Stage Director Amy Hutchison as well as the Final Round of the Vocal Competition.Soirée Lyrique’s Young Artist Program (YAP) concluded its five weeks of vocal and theatrical training with “Opera Scenes” on Sunday, July 23 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Elgin, staged by international Stage Director Amy Hutchison as well as the Final Round of the Vocal Competition.

Over $2,000 of cash awards were distributed to the winners as follows:  In Division I, called the “Twinkling Stars” (age 12 yrs & under) Julia Smitendorf from Lake in the Hills received the first prize of $100 followed by Isabella Malacsina of Elgin with a second prize of $50.

The Starbursts, Division II (13 – 18 years old) were all so equally good that the judges decided to give three second prizes of $200 each to Blake Buczkiewicz from Huntley, Jessica Farfan from Gilberts and Isabella Beatrice Nicoli from Elmhurst.

Shooting Star, Samantha Baran from Algonquin took the First Prize of Division III (19 – 26 years old) with a cash award of $500.

And our Division IV, the Everlasting Stars (27 years old and over) granted Karen Archbold from Glen Ellyn the First Prize of $500, Sarah Linske (Chicago) Second Prize of $250, and Elginite Jim Hinton the Third Prize of $150.
